with cutting edge fintech innovation

Our Work and Focus

The Money Carer Foundation is a national social enterprise established in 2009. The organisation is a national partner with Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and is the largest provider of corporate appointeeships in the UK.

What we do

We have pioneered the development of a modern, appointeeship service utilising our unrivalled expertise, and significant investment in our proprietary technology and systems.

We work with over 90 local authorities and hundreds of care providers who provide support to our clients. Over 200 law firms along with a number of local authorities use our Monika banking and payments platform to support their own clients as deputy or attorney.

Monika, our specialist banking & payments platform, quite frankly, is a game changer for deputies.

The platform, which is currently completing its rigorous PCI DSS Compliance certification, has been developed over the last 6 years and has been made possible because of the unique experience of the management team. As the largest provider of appointeeships in the UK, Money Carer manages the finances of thousands of vulnerable people from all walks of life.

As such, we are exceptionally placed to absolutely understand the challenges that professional deputies, appointees and attorneys face.

Our Unique Management Team

Sean Tyrer (Money Carer CEO), is an acknowledged thought leader in the field of daily money management internationally, and his expertise is called on regularly. Sean is personally responsible for the bringing to market the concept of carer cards in 2012 and the appointeeship security bond in 2018.

Mike Shepherd, Shaun Marshall and Stephen Worthington, our senior banking and payments software engineers, have worked for the largest UK high street banks developing their online corporate banking services and security systems. This equates to combined specialist banking software experience of almost 50 years.

John Adey, (Head of Compliance) has over 30 years’ experience working with banking, payments and card regulators at senior in a number of international markets.

This unique set of management skills has made the development of Monika possible. The platform now presents professional deputies and attorneys the opportunity to redefine what efficiency, best practice, cost savings and customer service should look like in a court of protection team.

Leading innovation

Our current involvement in the development of suitable biometric identification and payment technologies is one example of how we are using our foresight and expertise to bring forward more secure ways of protecting clients and carers from online fraud and financial abuse. Whilst the driving force behind our innovations is to better serve our own clients and their care circle, the benefits of our innovations are made available to partners via our Monika platform.

“At The Money Carer Foundation, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable people. We do this by using our experience and working alongside care support teams to provide innovative services to make everyday money management easier for all”
